Music Healing Veterans Canada

Information For Volunteers

Music Healing Veterans Canada is entirely run and powered by our many volunteers, eager to help others conquer their challenges through free music instruction and all it's assorted perks.

You do not have to be a veteran or emergency services personnel to become a volunteer. Also, you do not have to be mentally or physically challenged to volunteer with this program. What we want are individuals with a love of the program and the dedication to help it thrive at the chapter and the national level. We want our volunteers to come with an open mind; free of bias and prejudice.

Volunteer work can be very fulfilling when you see that, through your efforts, you have brought peace, structure and friendship to our heroes in uniform looking to music instruction to help them navigate troubled waters, so to speak.

We have many volunteer roles that need to be filled. We are in constant need of:

~ Music Instuctors (all instruments, voice and genres). We openly welcome any and all individuals who think they have what it takes to instruct our students on their chosen instruments. All we ask of you is thirty minutes of your time, once per week. What you get in return will surely make your efforts worth it!

~ Instructors helpers to aid a given instructor in the function of their group instruction. This allows the instructor to give his full focus on the lesson without having to handle the details.

~ Group mentors that can jam with our students when their instruction is completed. Besides our group instruction, we have found that spending time making music with like-minded people to lead them, our students will benefit greatly. Lead by example to show our students how accomplished musicians interact with their music.

~ Help preparing lesson plans/tablature.

~ Help with fundraising efforts. We are working around the clock to maintain the revenue required to ensure we are able to bring quality music therapy to our students and volunteers. In the near future we hope to be able to setup information booths in high traffic areas such as the local shopping malls and music gatherings/festivals. We will need people to operate these booths, as well as others to help support the booth workers.

~ Some of our students have expressed interest in performing publicly and would need mentoring in the ins and outs of such performances.
